NexGard
NexGard (afoxolaner) is FDA-approved for veterinarian use and demonstrated 100% effectiveness against adult fleas 24 hours post-infestation for 35 days. NexGard rapidly kills adult fleas and is indicated for the treatment and prevention of flea (Ctenocephalides spp.) infestations, for the control of newly acquired adult fleas, and for the control of Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD). Following administration, fleas are killed within 6-8 hours. Rapid onset of action kills newly acquired fleas before they can lay eggs.
How NexGard works
Effective flea control with NexGard prevents flea tapeworm infestation in dogs. Nexgard treats and controls Paralysis ticks (Ixodes holocyclus), Brown Dog ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus), American Dog tick (Dermacentor variabilis), and Bush ticks (Haemaphysalis longicornis) for one month. NexGard provides effective control of pre-existing Paralysis tick infestations within 24 hours. Ixodes holocyclus ticks do not occur in Western Australia.
NexGard treats and controls demodectic mange caused by Demodex spp., sarcoptic mange caused by Sarcoptes scabiei, and ear mite (Otodectes cynotis) infestations.

How can NexGard be administered to dogs?
NexGard is a soft, highly palatable chewable and is readily consumed by dogs when offered as a treat. Alternatively, NexGard may be added intact to a small amount of dog food. Care should be taken that the dog consumes the complete dose, and treated dogs should be observed for a few minutes to ensure that part of the dose is not lost or rejected. If it is suspected that any of the dose has been lost, treat again with another full dose.
The recommended dosage is 2.5 mg per kg bodyweight:

For dogs over 50 kg, administer the appropriate combination of chewables. To have optimal performance, treat your dog on or about the same day each month.
Is NexGard safe for dogs?
NexGard was shown to be safe in various breeds of dogs and in puppies 8 weeks and older. NexGard may be administered in conjunction with gastrointestinal worm or heartworm treatments administered according to label directions. Afoxolaner is part of the isoxazoline family of chemicals. Adverse reactions to this family of chemicals are rarely observed but may include vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy, inappetance, itching, and very rarely, seizures. Most adverse reactions are self-limiting and of short duration. If you have any concerns, please speak to your veterinarian.

Seemed to do nothing for my terrier/chihuahua
I've given him one dose so far. I will continue to give him the other 2 doses but we are still infested with fleas. I vacuum, clean the yard, bath my two dogs and wash our bedding every. single. day. and still we are infested with fleas. I will not be purchasing this product again.
Ticks be Gone!!
This stuff works!! I was pulling 3-4 ticks off my dogs per week when using other meds but now that they have been using the NexGard I have not had a single one for 3 MONTHS. That's HUGE! Plus it's so easy to give, I don't even have to use pill pockets. The price on PetShed is by far the BEST I've found, I will not buy it anywhere else from now on!!

Good stuff. Working great so far!
The NexGard is working great in keeping the flees off our large mixed breed dog. We tried using two different brands of the well-known topical flee meds over the course of almost a year and they just were not working. As soon as we tried the NexGard the flee problem stopped. Been working great for almost 6 months. We'll keep using it until the day it proves not to work but so far so good. Another plus is that its easy to administer, our dog looks forward to eating it right up just like any treat!
NexGard is best
This is the only flee and tick prevention that has worked for my Golden Retriever. The topical treatments never penetrated like they should even when the vet applied it and the previous chewable treatments did not work for ticks. He actually thinks that he is getting a treat when I give it to him. He did not like the other chewable flee treatment. We have trouble with both flees and ticks almost year around. Pet Shed has the best price around and I have been thrilled with my orders in the past.

This is the best flea and tick medicine I have found so far. Works great since my dog gets in the pond a lot and other topical medicines did not last. Have not seen any fleas or ticks on her since we started using Nexgard.

NexGard BEST YET
I was introduced to NexGard a few months ago. I was pleasd to see that not only did it control fleas but ticks as well. I have four dogs and the tick issue is more important to me than th fleas as I live in the country. One of my dogs is a large Chesapeake Bay Retriever that has skin alergies, especially in the summer heat. He has been to the vets several times and has never been able to diagnosis his allergies. Since he has ben on NexGard for 3 months, his hair on the bare half of his body is growing back and the itching, licking, and biting have all but stopped. He is happier and his energy level has increased since he doesn't spend so much time being miserable. Thank you Pet Shed for carrying this product and making the life of a Chessie much improved.
