NexGard

NexGard (afoxolaner) is FDA-approved for veterinarian use and demonstrated 100% effectiveness against adult fleas 24 hours post-infestation for 35 days. NexGard rapidly kills adult fleas and is indicated for the treatment and prevention of flea (Ctenocephalides spp.) infestations, for the control of newly acquired adult fleas, and for the control of Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD). Following administration, fleas are killed within 6-8 hours. Rapid onset of action kills newly acquired fleas before they can lay eggs.

How NexGard works

Effective flea control with NexGard prevents flea tapeworm infestation in dogs. Nexgard treats and controls Paralysis ticks (Ixodes holocyclus), Brown Dog ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus), American Dog tick (Dermacentor variabilis), and Bush ticks (Haemaphysalis longicornis) for one month. NexGard provides effective control of pre-existing Paralysis tick infestations within 24 hours. Ixodes holocyclus ticks do not occur in Western Australia.

NexGard treats and controls demodectic mange caused by Demodex spp., sarcoptic mange caused by Sarcoptes scabiei, and ear mite (Otodectes cynotis) infestations.

How can NexGard be administered to dogs?

NexGard is a soft, highly palatable chewable and is readily consumed by dogs when offered as a treat. Alternatively, NexGard may be added intact to a small amount of dog food. Care should be taken that the dog consumes the complete dose, and treated dogs should be observed for a few minutes to ensure that part of the dose is not lost or rejected. If it is suspected that any of the dose has been lost, treat again with another full dose.

The recommended dosage is 2.5 mg per kg bodyweight:

Dog Weight (kg)    Chewable size (g)    Afoxolaner (mg/chew)

2-4                                      0.5                                 11.3

4.1-10                                 1.25                               28.3

10.1-25                               3                                    68.0

25.1-50                               6                                   136.0

For dogs over 50 kg, administer the appropriate combination of chewables. To have optimal performance, treat your dog on or about the same day each month.

Is NexGard safe for dogs?

NexGard was shown to be safe in various breeds of dogs and in puppies 8 weeks and older. NexGard may be administered in conjunction with gastrointestinal worm or heartworm treatments administered according to label directions. Afoxolaner is part of the isoxazoline family of chemicals. Adverse reactions to this family of chemicals are rarely observed but may include vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy, inappetance, itching, and very rarely, seizures. Most adverse reactions are self-limiting and of short duration. If you have any concerns, please speak to your veterinarian.

Flea and tick control

I have tried other meds and nothing works that good on my pack. This is the only flea and tick med that they like. It works well in removing those parasites. And I didn't have any issues on giving it to them.

Works Incredibly!!!!!

If your house is like ours, you end up with more animals in your house than you had planned, because you are the house people drop their animals off at and you end up taking them in. This is how we ended up with four large dogs ( 2 labs, 1blue heeler/hound dog mix, and 1 Begal) in your house. On top of three rescue cats. I highly recommended Nexgaurd, we live in South East Texas, and it seemed like all the topical flea drops where no longer having an effect on these tough fleas. It seemed like it has not gotten cold enough in SE Texas in several winters to kill these pest, and we seemed to be fighting a losing war against the fleas. One of our lab is also allergic to topical flea treatment. So I decided to give Nexgaurd a try, and noticed a significant decrease in the fleas in two weeks. I have been using it on all four dogs for three months now, and can happily report I haven't notice any fleas, and am pleasantly surprised by how well it works. Now if there was a product that works this well on Texas mosquitoes.

My beagle likes it. Yet my Shih tzu doesn't. They have different preferences. But the good thing is the beagle was able to take it. And I get to protect my one dog from fleas and ticks with this med. Maybe I need to go back to spot on treatment for my Shih tzu.

I tried nexgard and my Corgi loves it! It takes time but it really works. I found out this is also under Frontline so I guess it's more reliable. It's a known brand for years. Tried and tested. So I know it's a high quality product.

I tried this product and it is spectacular for keeping the fleas away, the only reason I switched is my little princess Twiggy wouldn't chew the tabs.....lol. So I went back to Frontline Plus on your site instead as that is what I usually use and it works great also. Thank you guys for such great discounts and service. Jessica Lamb.

my babies love it. it's not that difficult to make them take their meds. i think it's because of the flavor of the tablets. anyway, the flavor has a great impact. fleas and ticks are treated easier.

worth it

My pug is too stubborn to take his meds. Surprisingly, he wants this nexgard. I bought only a few to try but then I found out my pug likes it. I need to protect him especially it's tick and flea season. So yes I'm a happy customer. Find this very effective. Worthy of every penny

It hurts as a pet owner to see your dogs itching and non stop scratching and you can't do anything. You know they feel so irritated and that they hate fleas and ticks.. Tried Nexgard and it really made a huge difference! Fleas and ticks are gone. No more itching for my dogs and I feel so relieved. Nexgard saved my dogs.

It kills fleas and ticks but not all present in your dog. I can still see fleas on my dog's fur. Though the number got less. But it didn't remove everything. Or maybe I am just too impatient. My dog is just on her first tablet. Will update you the next time my dog take the second and third tablet.
