Heartgard Plus
Heartgard Plus is indicated for use in dogs to prevent canine heartworm disease by eliminating the tissue stage of heartworm larvae for a month (30 days) after infection, and for the treatment and control of roundworms and hookworms.

How Heartgard Plus works
Heartgard Plus prevents canine heartworm disease by eliminating the tissue stage of heartworm larvae (Dirofilaria immitis) for a month (30 days) after infection and for the treatment and control of ascarids (Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina) and hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum, Uncinaria stenocephala, Ancylostoma braziliense).
How can you properly administer Heartgard Plus?
Heartgard Plus (ivermectin/pyrantel) should be administered orally at monthly intervals at the recommended minimum dose level of 6 mcg of ivermectin per kilogram (2.72 mcg/lb) and 5 mg of pyrantel (as pamoate salt) per kg (2.27 mg/lb) of body weight. The recommended dosing schedule for the prevention of canine heartworm disease and for the treatment and control of ascarids and hookworms is as follows:

Heartgard Plus is recommended for dogs 6 weeks of age and older. For dogs over 100 lb use the appropriate combination of these chewables.
What are the precautions in using Heartgard Plus?
All dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infection before starting treatment with Heartgard Plus which is not effective against adult D. immitis. Infected dogs must be treated to remove adult heartworms and microfilariae before initiating a program with Heartgard Plus. While some microfilariae may be killed by the ivermectin in Heartgard Plus at the recommended dose level, Heartgard Plus is not effective for microfilariae clearance. A mild hypersensitivity-type reaction, presumably due to dead or dying microfilariae and particularly involving a transient diarrhea, has been observed in clinical trials with ivermectin alone after treatment of some dogs that have circulating microfilariae.

Maintaining 3 dogs affordably
I cannot attest to the efficacy of the generic heart-plus other than all three dogs are fine after one year of using this product from Pet Shed. The Vet warned me that by buying from sources such as this I will have no recourse in case the dogs have to be treated for heart worms. In other words by paying twice as much I might get the right to sue the pharmaceutical company and prove that I administered the medicine correctly. I am saving $ 250.00 per year for my three dogs and so far everyone is happy... Stay vigilant Pet Shed and you will have a customer for life or as long as I am blessed to take care of these wonderful creatures.
Great Product, Great Price
Bought a year supply, these are smaller chewable tables that I added to my dogs treats. No adverse side affects, and my dogs are worm free according to my Vet, so I highly recommend this product.

Amazing Product - Dogs LOVE it!
Perfect - finally a pill I do not have to disguise in cheese for my dog. When the first of the month rolls around and she sees me getting the pill ready, she thinks it's a treat. My 10 year old pit bull is an incredibly picky eater and she loves these! I have 3 dogs of my own and one foster that all are on this medicine and we haven't had any heart worm or intestinal parasite issues. Great product!

Our old dog had a mild case of heartworms even tho a previous vet was 'medicating' him monthly. We changed vets and Dr. Ponce recommended Heartguard as a Slow Kill since our old fella has some liver and kidney concerns. After 1 year of the Heartguard, he's HEARTWORM NEGATIVE without any harsh treatment. We will ONLY use Heartguard from now on! Diane
