Product Detail: Generic Drontal for Cats (Pyrantel Pamoate & Praziquantel)

INDICATIONS:

Troncil Plus is indicated for the treatment of Roundworms, Hookworms and Tapeworms in cats.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:

The recommended dose rates are 57.5 mg/kg Pyrantel Pamoate and 5 mg/kg Praziquantel. This is equivalent to 1 tablet per 4 kg (9 lbs) bodyweight. The tablet should be given directly but if necessary can be disguised in food. Troncil Plus Tablets may be given directly by mouth or offered in a small amount of food. Do not withhold food from the cat prior to or after treatment. The tablets are scored into halves to enable a range of weights to be treated.

Worming at least every 3 months will help keep the pets healthy and reduce the number of worm eggs shed into the environment. Hunting cats are especially susceptible to tapeworm infections because of the animals they catch, such as mice which act as intermediate hosts for several tapeworm species. Monthly worming can be recommended for hunting cats.

Dosage:

2 to 3 kg bodyweight - ½ tablet

4 to 8 kg bodyweight - 1 tablet

9 to 12 kg bodyweight - 1 ½ tablet

Works Well!

We have many cats in our care and although we do topical them for fleas they sometimes still get them leading to tape worms and hook and round have also been an issue. This generic product works great to rid the cats in our care of round, hook and tape. They are a little on the large size for pilling a cat so I will break them up and place in a pill pocket for those that like the pill pockets. I will break up into powder and place in wet food for those more difficult to pill or more feral to human touch. I would definitely recommend this product, especially for TNR work and for colony caregivers. I was a little hesitant because it is generic but they are great for treating our colony of 60.
