 View other items in the same category as Heartgard Plus Information about Heartgard Plus Heartgard Plus is a monthly medication for the prevention of heartworms in dogs. Heartgard Plus prevents heartworm disease in dogs by eliminating the heartworm larvae (Dirofilaria immitis) that infect the dog in the month before treatment. Heartgard Plus also controls heartworm infections acquired in the previous four months, provided monthly treatment is continued for at least 12 months. Heartgard Plus also removes roundworms (Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina) and hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum, A. braziliense, Uncinaria stenocephala)from the intestines. Heartgard Plus has a wide safety margin in all breeds of dogs, including pregnant females, breeding bitches, stud dogs and puppies six weeks of age and older. Dogs over six months of age should be tested for heartworm disease prior to using Heartgard Plus, and tested annually thereafter.

Do not use in puppies less than 6 weeks of age. Considered to be safe to use in pregnant and lactating animals (female animals nursing their young). Consult with your veterinarian regarding necessary physical examinations and heartworm testing necessary prior to and during treatment with heartworm medications.

Product Disclaimer
Heartgard Plus has been approved for sale in
Australia by the APVMA. The US
equivalent of this product has been approved for sale by the FDA.
Both the Australian and US products contain the same
active ingredients, ivermectin and pyrantel.
However, the products sold by Pet Shed are sold in Australian
packaging, and under Australian law, where the products are schedule 5, available without prescription. The Australian versions
have not been approved for sale in the USA. As a consequence, the Australian packaging does not have FDA approval and the sale and
purchase of products in the Australian packaging, and without a prescription, may be illegal in the US.
