This product is not licensed for use in animals, however there is no equivalent drug available as a tablet for use in animals currently. Product ContainsTetracycline HCl Dosage and AdministrationThe dose normally employed in dogs and cats is 25 mg tetracycline per pound of body weight, per day, in divided doses every 6-8 hours. Treatment should be continued until the temperature has been normal for 48 hours or characteristic symptoms of the disease have subsided. Warnings, Side Effects and Drug InteractionsUse of tetracycline during tooth development may cause discoloration of the teeth (yellow-grey-brownish). This effect occurs mostly during long-term use of the drug, but it has also been observed following short treatment courses.
As with any antibiotic, prolonged use may result in overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms, including the yeast, Candida (monilia) albicans. Should superinfection occur, the antibiotic should be discontinued and other appropriate measures taken.This should be used with caution in animals with liver or kidney disease. Tetracycline hydrochloride is generally well tolerated by pets. The most commonly observed side effect is a change in consistency of the stool. Skin photosensitivity is occasionally seen. If this, or other allergic reactions occur, discontinue the medication and consult your veterinarian. StorageStore at a controlled room temperature between 59-86°F (15-30°C). Protect from light.
