Ampicillin is a human antibiotic medication, which is occasionally used in animals to treat susceptible bacterial infections. This product is not licensed for use in animals, however there is no equivalent drug available for use in animals currently.

Dosage and Administration

The dosage varies depending on the location and severity of infection and they type of bacteria involved. Use as directed by your veterinarian.

Warnings, Side Effects and Drug Interactions

Do not use this drug if the animal has a history of allergies to penicillins. Anaphylactic (shock) reactions can occur in animals treated with this drug. This drug has not been tested for safety in pregnant animals. It has been known to cause gastrointestinal disturbances in treated pets. It should not be used in small mammals as it may cause a fatal overgrowth of non-susceptible bacteria. This drug may interact with other antibiotics, so should only be given in conjunction with medications prescribed by a veterinarian.

Storage

Store at a controlled room temperature between 59-86°F (15-30°C).
