It is used to lower the blood pressure by opening up blood vessels in animals with heart failure. It is also used in animals with kidney failure. This product is not licensed for use in animals, however there is no equivalent drug available for use in animals. Product ContainsBenazepril HCl Dosage and AdministrationThe dose normally employed in cats and dogs is 0.25-0.5mg/kg once to twice daily. Warnings, Side Effects and Drug InteractionsThis drug should not be used in animals which are allergic to any ACE inhibitors. It should be used with caution in animals with low sodium levels in the body, low blood pressure, or other abnormalities of the blood. It should be used with caution in pregnant animals as it may affect the young in the womb. Digestive upsets, a drop in blood pressure, kidney problems and high potassium levels in the body may occur as side effects of benazepril. It may interact with diuretics, other blood pressure medications or NSAIDs, so should be used with caution in conjunction with these medications.
