In dogs, this may also help to propel food through the GI tract. This product is not licensed for use in animals, however there is no equivalent drug available for use in animals currently. Product ContainsErythromycin Dosage and AdministrationThe usual dose to treat infections is 10-20mg/kg three times daily. The dose to stimulate gut movement is much lower, 0.5-1.0mg/kg three times daily. More severe infections may require higher doses. Use as directed by your veterinarian. Warnings, Side Effects and Drug InteractionsGI disturbances are the most common side effect seen. It should not be used in small mammals as it can upset the balance of their gut flora and cause a fatal bacterial overgrowth. The effectiveness of erythromycin may be reduced when used with some other antibiotics, such as clindamycin. It may interact with other concurrent medications, such as theophylline, methylprednisolone, warfarin, cyclosporine or digoxin, so should be used with caution in conjunction with these drugs.
