Product Uses

This is a human muscle relaxant which is occasionally used in pets to treat muscle spasms. This product is not licensed for use in animals, however it is similar to a product which is licensed for use in cats, dogs and horses.

Dosage and Administration

The dosage and frequency of administration should be based on the severity of symptoms and on the response to treatment. The usual dose for cats and dogs is 60 mg/lb body weight in divided doses followed by 30 or 60 mg/lb body weight each following day. The total dose should be divided into two or three equal doses. If no response is evident within five days of the initiation of treatment, the diagnosis should be redetermined.

Warnings, Side Effects and Drug Interactions

This drug should not be used in any animals used for food purposes.
Side effects of methocarbamol include sedation, salivation, vomiting, lethargy, and an unsteady gait. It should be used with caution in association with any other sedating medications.

Storage

Store at controlled room temperature 15° to 30°C (59° to 86°F).
