Product Uses

This is a human antibiotic, occasionally used in pets to treat susceptible infections. This product is not licensed for use in animals, however there is no equivalent drug available for use in animals as at June 2006.

Dosage and Administration

The dose used in cats and dogs is normally 5-10mg/kg once daily for 5-7 days, depending on response to treatment. Shake the suspension well before use. Discard any unused medication 14 day after opening.

Warnings, Side Effects and Drug Interactions

This medication is contra-indicated in patients with a history of allergy to this or other macrolide antibiotics, such as erythromycin. It should be used with caution in animals with liver disease. Vomiting is the most commonly noted side effect of this medication, but diarrhea and abdominal cramps have also been noted. This medication should not be used with cisapride.

Storage

Store at a controlled room temperature between 59-86°F (15-30°C). Do not refrigerate.
