 View other items in the same category as Baytril Otic Product UsesBaytril Otic is indicated as a treatment for canine ear infections associated with bacterial and fungal organisms susceptible to enrofloxacin and/or silver sulfadiazine. Product Containsenrofloxacin/silver sulfadiazine Dosage and AdministrationShake well before each use. Tilt head so that the affected ear is presented in an upward orientation. Administer a sufficient quantity of Baytril Otic to coat the ear canal and opening. As a general guide, administer 5-10 drops per treatment in dogs weighing 35 lbs. or less and 10-15 drops per treatment in dogs weighing more than 35 lbs. Following treatment, gently massage the ear so as to ensure complete and uniform distribution of the medication throughout the external ear canal. Apply twice daily for a duration of up to 14 days. Warnings, Side Effects and Drug InteractionsBaytril Otic is contraindicated in dogs with suspected or known hypersensitivity to quinolones and/or sulfonamides. Skin reactions including acute inflammation of the ear canal and pinna have been seen in allergic dogs. Individuals with a history of hypersensitivity to quinolone compounds or antibacterials should avoid handling this product. In humans, there is a risk of user photosensitization within a few hours after excessive exposure to quinolones. If excessive accidental exposure occurs, avoid direct sunlight. The use of Baytril Otic in dogs with perforated ear drums has not been evaluated for safety to the delicate hearing and balance apparatus in the middle ear. If hearing loss or balance problems are noted during the course of treatment, discontinue use of Baytril Otic and contact your veterinarian. Quinolone-class drugs should be used with caution in animals with known or suspected nervous system disorders. Rarely, these medications been associated with seizures, as well as behavioral changes such as depression, lethargy and nervousness in cats and dogs. Quinolone-class drugs have been associated with cartilage erosions in weight-bearing joints in immature, growing animals of various species. The use of enrofloxacin is contraindicated in small and medium breeds of dogs during their rapid growth phase (2-8 months of age). The safety of use of enrofloxacin has not been established in large and giant breeds during rapid growth, but is not recommended in large breeds up to 1 year of age and giant breeds up to 18 months. The safe use of Baytril Otic in dogs used for breeding purposes, during pregnancy, or in lactating females, has not been evaluated. StorageStore between 4 and 25°C (40 - 77°F).
