It is occasionally used in animals for the same purpose. Product ContainsDesmopressin Dosage and AdministrationUse as directed by your veterinarian. Warnings, Side Effects and Drug InteractionsDesmopressin is contraindicated in animals allergic to it. It should not be used in animals susceptible to excessive blood clotting. Overdosages of this medication may cause fluid retention and a relative excess of sodium in the body. Safety during pregnancy is not known. If this medication is given in conjunction with chlorpropamide, carbemazepine clofibrate or fludrocortisone, these may increase the effects of desmopressin. If it is given with lithium, epinephrine heparin or demeclocycline, these may interact with desmopressin to decrease its effectiveness. StorageStore in the refrigerator between 36-46 degrees F (2-8 degrees C). Do not freeze. May store at room temperature between 68-77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from light and moisture for 3 weeks. Discard after 3 weeks out of the refrigerator. This is a human product, which is not licensed with the FDA for use in animals. The use of this product by your veterinarian is at their discretion – your veterinarian is responsible for determining the appropriate dose rate and managing any side effects which may occur in association with this product.
