In addition, it is indicated as superficial dressing applied to minor cuts, wounds, lacerations, abrasions, and for post surgical application where reduction of pain and inflammatory response is deemed desirable. Tritop Topical Ointment is useful in treating ear infections, anal gland infections and moist dermatitis in the dog and is a useful dressing for minor cuts, lacerations, abrasions, and post surgical therapy in the horse, cat, and dog. Product Containsneomycin sulfate, isoflupredone acetate, tetracaine hydrochloride Dosage and AdministrationIf treating an ear condition, instill a quantity of ointment sufficient to fill the external ear canal one to three times daily. When used on the skin or mucous membranes, clean the affected area, and apply a small amount of the ointment and spread or rub in gently one to three times daily as directed by your veterinarian. Warnings, Side Effects and Drug InteractionsTritop Ointment should not be used in dogs with perforated ear drums, to avoid transmitting infection into the middle ear, or damaging the hearing apparatus. If any adverse effect are noticed, such as hearing or balance problems, discontinue the medication and consult your veterinarian for appropriate therapy. Corticosteroids (such as isoflupredone acetate) may induce the first stage of the birth process if used during the last trimester of pregnancy and may precipitate premature labor, which may be associated with complications. Additionally, corticosteroids administered to dogs, rabbits and rodents during pregnancy have resulted in birth defects in the young. Incomplete response or exacerbation of skin problems may be due to the presence of nonsusceptible organisms or to prolonged use of antibiotic-containing preparations resulting in overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms, particularly Monilia. If improvement in the condition is not noted within two or three days, or if redness, irritation, or swelling persists or increases, the diagnosis should be redetermined and appropriate therapeutic measures initiated. If any signs of allergy to the medication are noted, therapy with Tritop should be stopped.
