Temaril-P is recommended for the relief of itching regardless of cause, including eczema caused by internal disorders, ear infections, and dermatitis (allergic, parasitic, pustular, and nonspecific). Temaril-P has been found to be effective therapy in various cough conditions of dogs. Temaril-P is recommended for the treatment of “kennel cough - or tracheobronchitis, bronchitis including all allergic bronchitis and infections and coughs of nonspecific origin. Product ContainsEach tablet contains trimeprazine and prednisolone. Dosage and AdministrationDose 1 tablet per 20lbs initially, then halve dosage after 4 days of therapy, or as directed by your veterinarian. The same dosage schedule may be followed for relief of itching and coughing. Warnings, Side Effects and Drug InteractionsPossible side effects attributable to corticosteroids (such as prednisolone) include: increased susceptibility to secondary infections, delayed wound healing, metabolic changes, suppressed adrenal cortical function, osteoporosis, muscle wasting, vomiting and diarrhea (occasionally bloody). Cushing's syndrome has been reported in association with prolonged or repeated corticosteroid therapy in dogs. Inhibition of the body's own steroid production following withdrawal of the drug may occur. Blood clotting problems may also occur - small areas of bleeding may be seen under the skin. Corticosteroids may induce the first stage of the birth process if used during the last trimester of pregnancy and may precipitate premature labor, which may be associated with complications. Additionally, corticosteroids administered to dogs, rabbits and rodents during pregnancy have resulted in birth defects in the young. Possible side effects attributable to phenothiazine derivatives include sedation; protruding third eyelids; blood abnormalities; intensification and prolongation of the action of pain relievers, sedatives and general anesthetics; and potentiation of organophosphate toxicity and the activity of procaine hydrochloride. Should any signs of intolerance to this medication occur in your pet, discontinue therapy and contact your veterinarian for advice.
