Product Uses

Neo-predef with Tetracaine Powder is indicated in the treatment or adjunctive therapy of certain ear and skin conditions in dogs, cats and horses associated with neomycin-susceptible bacteria and/or allergy. It can also be used as a superficial dressing applied to minor cuts, wounds, lacerations, abrasions, and for post-surgical application where reduction of pain and inflammatory response is deemed desirable.
Applied superficially, it has been used successfully in the treatment of acute ear infections in dogs, hot spots and dermatitis between the toes and as a dusting powder to various minor cuts, lacerations, and abrasions in the horse, cat and dog.

Product Contains

Neomycin sulfate, isoflupredone acetate, tetracaine hydrochloride

Dosage and Administration

Clean the affected area, then apply Neo-Predef by compressing the sides of the container with short, sharp squeezes. In most instances a single daily application will be sufficient; however, it may be applied one to three times daily, as instructed by your veterinarian. Do not allow the tip to come in contact with moist membranes or weeping surfaces.

Warnings, Side Effects and Drug Interactions

Neo-Predef should not be used in dogs with perforated ear drums, to avoid transmitting infection into the middle ear, or damaging the hearing apparatus. If any adverse effect are noticed, such as hearing or balance problems, discontinue the medication and consult your veterinarian for appropriate therapy.

Corticosteroids (such as isoflupredone acetate) may induce the first stage of the birth process if used during the last trimester of pregnancy and may precipitate premature labor, which may be associated with complications. Additionally, corticosteroids administered to dogs, rabbits and rodents during pregnancy have resulted in birth defects in the young.

Incomplete response or exacerbation of skin problems may be due to the presence of nonsusceptible organisms or to prolonged use of antibiotic-containing preparations resulting in overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms, particularly Monilia. If improvement in the condition is not noted within two or three days, or if redness, irritation, or swelling persists or increases, the diagnosis should be redetermined and appropriate therapeutic measures initiated.
