Generic Droncit may be administered directly into the mouth or crumbled and mixed with the feed. If all of the tablet(s) is/are not eaten, Generic Droncit may not remove all tapeworms. The recommended dosage of praziquantel varies according to body weight. Smaller animals require a relatively larger dosage because of their higher metabolic rate. The optimum dose for each individual animal will be achieved by utilizing the following dosage schedule for dogs and puppies: 5lbs and under: 1/2 a tablet; 6-10lbs: 1 tablet; 11-15lbs:1 1/2 tablets; 16-30lbs: 2 tablets; 31-45lbs: 3 tablets; 45-60lbs:4 tablets; over 60lbs: 5 tablets. The recommended dosage of praziquantel is not affected by the presence or absence of food in the gastrointestinal tract. It is not necessary to fast animals prior to administration of Generic Droncit.

For those animals maintained on premises where reinfections are likely to occur, steps should be taken to prevent reinfection; otherwise, retreatment may be necessary. In flea tapeworm ( Dipylidium caninum) infections, reinfection is almost certain to occur if fleas are not removed from the animal and its environment.
