Delta Albaplex 3X Tablets are indicated in the treatment of acute or chronic upper respiratory conditions when it is necessary to initially reduce the severity of associated clinical signs and when caused by organisms susceptible to novobiocin sodium and tetracycline hydrochloride.

Product Contains

Tetracycline Hydrochloride 180mg, Novobiocin Sodium 180mg and Prednisolone 4.5mg

Dosage and Administration

The dosage for dogs is 10 mg of each antibiotic and 0.25 mg prednisolone per lb of body weight repeated at 12 hour intervals for 48 hours. Dose one tablet for every 18 lbs bodyweight. Continue antibacterial treatment with Albaplex Tablets at the same dose schedule for an additional 3 days.

Warnings, Side Effects and Drug Interactions

As with other corticosteroids, this product is contraindicated in animals with tuberculosis, Cushing's syndrome and stomach ulcers. Adverse events reported in dogs in association with corticosteroids (such as prednisolone) include excessive drinking and urination, vomiting and diarrhea (occasionally bloody).Cushing's syndrome has been reported in association with prolonged or repeated corticosteroid therapy in dogs. Inhibition of the body's own steroid production following withdrawal of the drug may occur. Corticosteroids may induce the first stage of the birth process if used during the last trimester of pregnancy and may precipitate premature labor, which may be associated with complications. Additionally, corticosteroids administered to dogs, rabbits and rodents during pregnancy have resulted in birth defects in the young.

This product should be used with caution in animals with diabetes, osteoporosis, blood clotting problems, elevated blood pressure, heart or kidney disease.

Because of the wide antibacterial effect of this antibiotic combination on intestinal flora, a change in the character of the stools may be anticipated in certain animals. If hypersensitivity to any of the components occurs, discontinue treatment and contact your veterinarian.

Since the use of any broad spectrum antibiotic may result in overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms, constant observation of the animal patient is essential. If new infections appear during therapy, appropriate measures should be taken.
