Antirobe is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible microorganisms involved in skin infections (wounds and abscesses), dental infections and bone infections. Product Containsclindamycin hydrochloride Dosage and AdministrationDOGS: Dental infections, infected soft tissue wounds and abscesses: Administer 2.5 to 15 mg/lb body weight or 1 to 6 mL/10 lbs body weight every 12 hours for a minimum of 7 to 10 days and a maximum of 28 days. Discontinue treatment of acute infections in 3 to 4 days if no response is seen. Osteomyelitis: Administer 5 to 15 mg/lb body weight every 12 hours for a minimum of 28 days. Shorter treatment could lead to unsatisfactory results. Discontinue after 28 days if no response is seen. CATS: Infected Wounds, Abscesses, and Dental Infections: 5.0 - 15.0 mg/lb body weight once every 24 hours depending on the severity of the condition. Treatment with Antirobe Aquadrops may be continued up to a maximum of 14 days if clinical judgment indicates. Treatment of acute infections should not be continued for more than three to four days if no clinical response to therapy is seen. Warnings, Side Effects and Drug InteractionsAntirobe is contraindicated in animals with a history of hypersensitivity to preparations containing clindamycin or lincomycin. Because of potential adverse gastrointestinal effects, Antirobe should not be administered to rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, horses, chinchillas or ruminating animals. During prolonged therapy of one month or greater, periodic liver and kidney function tests and blood tests should be performed. Animals with severe kidney disease and/or severe liver disease accompanied by blood chemical changes should be dosed with caution. Clindamycin hydrochloride has been shown to have paralysing properties that may enhance the action of other neuromuscular blocking agents. Safety in pregnant females or breeding males has not been established. Side effects occasionally seen with this medication include vomiting and diarrhea.
