Product Contains
Levothyroxine sodium, U.S.P.
Dosage and Administration
The initial recommended daily dose is 0.1 mg/10 lbs (4.5 kg) of body weight orally or placed in the food. The dosage may be adjusted according to the patient's response by monitoring thyroid hormone blood levels at four weekly intervals.
Warnings, Side Effects and Drug Interactions
The effects of Soloxine therapy are slow to develop. Overdosage of any thyroid drug may produce the signs of thyrotoxicosis, such as excessive drinking, eating and urinating, reduced heat tolerance and hyperactivity or a change in personality.
Soloxine should be administered with caution to animals with clinically significant heart disease, elevated blood pressure or other complications for which a sharply increased metabolic rate might prove hazardous. Levothyroxine sodium therapy is contraindicated in thyrotoxicosis, heart attack and uncorrected adrenal insufficiency (Addison's Disease).
