Product Uses
Ketoconazole is a human anti-fungal medication. This drug is occasionally employed by veterinarians to treat fungal infections in dogs and cats and rarely for treatment of Cushing's Disease (hyperadrenocorticism) in dogs. This product is not licensed for use in animals, however there are no products containing this ingredient registered with the FDA for use in animals currently.

The dose used is very variable and depends on the condition being treated. Use the product as instructed by your veterinarian.
Warnings, Side Effects and Drug Interactions
The use of ketoconazole in pets has rarely been associated with liver damage, lightening or drying of the hair coat and the development of cataracts. The medication can affect the production of cortisol from the adrenal gland, as well as testosterone and other sex hormones. This can affect reproduction ?this medication should not be administered to pregnant animals. Ketoconazole can reduce the liver's ability to metabolize other drugs and may interact with the following medications: antacids, cimetidine, cisapride, methylprednisolone, anticonvulsants, heart medications, cyclosporine and theophylline. The most common side effects seen with ketoconazole are vomiting, diarrhea and a reduced appetite.
Should any signs of intolerance to ketoconazole occur in your pet, discontinue therapy and contact your veterinarian for advice.
