Product Uses
Amoxicillin is a human antibiotic occasionally used by veterinarians to treat bacterial infections in animals. It has bactericidal activity against a wide range of common organisms.
In dogs, the medication is used in the treatment of respiratory tract, genitourinary tract, gastrointestinal tract and soft tissue infections (abscesses, lacerations, and wounds) and dermatitis caused by susceptible strains of organisms.
In cats, it is used in the treatment of upper respiratory tract, genitourinary tract, gastrointestinal tract and skin and soft tissue infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria. This product is not licensed for use in animals, however it is similar to medications which are licensed in animals.

Dosage and Administration
The dose of the animal licensed medication in pets is as follows:
Dogs: The recommended dosage is 5 mg/lb of body weight. Administer twice daily for 5-7 days or as directed by your veterinarian. Continue for 48 hours after all symptoms have subsided.
Cats: The recommended dosage is 50 mg (5-10 mg/lb). Administer once daily for 5-7 days or as directed by your veterinarian. Continue for 48 hours after all symptoms have subsided.
Warnings, Side Effects and Drug Interactions
Because it does not resist destruction by penicillinase, amoxicillin is not effective against penicillinase-producing bacteria.
The use of this drug is contraindicated in animals with a history of an allergic reaction to penicillin. If an allergic reaction occurs, contact your veterinarian immediately.
