Product Uses

Program Flavor Tabs are an oral medication for the control of flea populations in dogs and puppies, cats and kittens over four weeks of age. Program contains lufenuron, an insect development inhibitor, which controls flea populations by breaking the flea life cycle at the egg stage. Program has no effect on adult fleas, however they ingest the medication when they bite treated pets and any eggs they lay have an abnormal shell and will not hatch.

Dosage and Administration

Dose one tablet monthly, appropriate to the weight of your pet, preferably on the same date. The tablet may be given whole or crushed into food, but should always be given in conjunction with a meal.

Warnings, Side Effects and Drug Interactions

As Program does not kill adult fleas, it may be necessary to give Program in conjunction with a product effective against adult fleas during the first few months of treatment, or where animals are constantly exposed to reinfestation by fleas. For best results, Program treatment should be started a few weeks prior to the commencement of the "flea season" until the end. Note that this may be year-round in many parts of the US. Initially, it may also be necessary to treat the pet's environment also to remove larval flea stages. If there is more than one pet in the household, ensure all are treated with Program.

The product has a high safety margin, however vomiting, a loss of appetite, diarrhea, breathing problems, depression and skin reactions have rarely been seen after administration of this product. Should any reaction occur in your pet, contact your veterinarian for advice.
