Product UsesInterceptor is an oral tablet that is used to prevent heartworm disease, control adult hookworms and remove and control adult roundworm infections in cats and dogs. Interceptor is also effective in removing and controlling whipworm infections in dogs. The highly palatable flavor tabs make administering Interceptor an easy task.
Product ContainsEach tablet contains: MILBEMYCIN OXIME 5.75mg Dosage and AdministrationDose one tablet monthly, preferably on the same date. The tablet can be given by hand as a treat, offered in food or given as for other tablet medications. Ensure that the pet consumes the whole dose. Heartworm is transmitted via mosquitoes, therefore the first dose of Interceptor should be given within one month of the start of the mosquito season and monthly until the end of the season for effective heartworm prevention.
Warnings, Side Effects and Drug InteractionsInterceptor can be used safely on puppies over four weeks of age and 2 pounds in weight, and kittens over the age of 6 weeks and 1.5 pounds bodyweight. Dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infections prior to commencing Interceptor if they have not been on previous heartworm control as allergic reactions can occur if the product is given to animals with an active heartworm infection. Safety in breeding, pregnant and lactating cats has not been established. On rare occasions, the following adverse effects have been observed in animals dosed with Interceptor: depression, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, salivation, weakness, unsteadiness, loss of appetite or seizures. Should any adverse effects be noted during treatment, Interceptor should be discontinued and a veterinarian contacted for assistance.
