LOS ANGELES, California: Proof that one is born every day, a mystery bidder has paid $305 on ebay for a can of organic dog food once owned by hotel heiress and socialite Paris Hilton.
And if that wasn't enough, the can was empty. Paris's beloved pet Chihuahua 'Tinkerbell' was unavailable for comment.
Not surprisingly, Paris chose an exclusive canine food brand for her pet dog; Party Animal organic gourmet dog food, billed as "the very best canned food in the world".
Hilton, most famous for ... well, being famous, and estimated by Wikipedia to be worth $50 million, did not profit from the sale. According to news website news.com.au, the can was retrieved from the starlet's garbage by two "scavengers" from the HollywoodStarTrash.com website.
According to the San Jose Mercury News, Paris' used toothbrush also sold for $305; two envelopes sent to her while she was in jail sold for $510; and a Coke can for $51. While the $305 final price tag for the can of canine chow might seem excessive, bidding reached $1.5 million before sanity prevailed.
One of the aforementioned "scavengers", who prefered to remain nameless, told news.com.au: "I'm definitely sceptical. I'd hate to get that eBay bill and then nobody pays."
It has been a traumatic month or so for Hilton; early in 2007 she was charged with driving with a suspended licence, speeding without a licence, and for a violation of her parole for not appearing at a court-ordered alcohol education program.
According to wikipedia, in a farcical high-profile series of events, Hilton was incarcerated for 45 days in California in June 2007, was released to home detention after only four days for unspecified 'medical reasons', and ordered back to jail by an irate judge. She was eventually released to great fanfare after 22 days in jail.
Paris is no stranger to having former property 'found' by strangers and being sold online. After having personal effects stolen and released online as the notorious "One night in Paris" sex tape in 2003, she fell victim again in 2007 when "images of personal and medical documents, video, and other private material" were auctioned off after she allegedly failed to pay the rent on a storage locker.

I don't get all the fuss with that Paris chick. The girl can't sing, she can't act and well she's not even that pretty. I wonder why they let her out so quickly. They should have kept her locked in there. That girl is a menace to society. Sets a bad example to children too.

hey everyone have any of you considered how that empty can of dog food actually reached $305? It means there were at least several others who were willing to pay , $50,$100 or even $200 for it. And if you hate her for it, think of the dozens of other spoiled rich brats out there who we don't know about, living pretty much the same lifestyle!
Give her a break guys. I don't think she's as bad as she seems to be. I heard she does a lot of charity work. She probably does charity work for pets too.

I think $300 on an empty can of dog food is a waste of money. If the guy donated the money to an animal charity then it would have saved a lot of dogs or cats. If you have money to spare I suggest you donate the money to animal welfare or something.

it is a vicious cycle. as long as there are people buying junk, there would always be people selling junk.
sell anything with paris's name attached to it and you can make money. scoop up paris's hair when she gets a haircut, i betcha you can make thousands of dollars! i dunno what these people see in this attention-seeking girl.
