Dog Treks 70 Miles to Find Soldier

A touching story out the Iraq war is of a dog braving the war-torn country to find a soldier who befriended him. The story of Nubbs is that of a war dog, a mixed-breed trained to be aggressive and vicious. The Iraqis even cut off his ears to increase his alertness and prove his toughness. Nubbs' tale is of abuse, all for the single purpose of converting him into a 'war machine'. But Nubbs is a different kind of war dog, for inspite of all the terrible beatings and abuse, there was still so much heart in him.

Nubbs was found wandering in the Anbar Province by Major Brian Dennis who quickly developed a friendship with the war dog. Major Dennis took care of all of Nubbs' bruises, cuts and injuries and it was during that period of recovery that he cemented his affection with the determined animal. The life of a soldier is one of transfers and the major had to leave Nubbs behind. Two days into his new posting, Major Dennis received the surprise of his life when he saw Nubbs in his new camp. Nubbs survived freezing desert temperatures and packs of wild animals to get to his friend. It was after this ordeal that Major Dennis decided he would do all he can to bring Nubbs to the US. Mounting an e-mail campaign, the determined army major was able to collect the needed funds for Nubbs' flight to Jordan and his eventual flight to the US, where the canine is temporarily adopted, waiting for the return of his friend Major Dennis.

In love and war, Nubbs just want to prove to the world that dogs will always be man's bestfriend.

this is one story wherein loyalty is best exemplified.
