CATEGORY: Insecticide-acaricide.

FIPROFORT for Cat provides convenient and effective flea and tick control for cats and kittens 8 weeks or older. It provides protection up to 15 weeks against fleas depending on the level of environmental challenge.

Fiprofort for Dog provides convenient and effective flea and tick control for dogs and puppies over 10 weeks of age. It provides protection upto 6 months against fleas and 3 months against ticks depending on the level of environmental challenge.

Fipronil is an insecticide acaricide belonging to the family phenylpyrazole. It works by inhibiting the GABA complex, thus blocking the transfer of chloride ions through the membrane at the pre and post-synaptic binding in the chloride channel. It thus causes uncontrolled activity of the central nervous system and death of insects and mites.

Reported studies showed that absolute bioavailability of fipronil was 9.5 %. The mean maximum concentration (Cmax) was found to be 19 max ng/ml in plasma found after 5 days (Tmax). Plasma concentrations were below 1 ng/ml (limit of quantification) by approximately 33 days max following topical administration.

Fipronil’s major metabolite on the haircoat of the dog and in the blood stream is the sulfone derivative. Fipronilsulfone is produced on the haircoat (mean concentrations < 16 % of fipronil during the first month after treatment).

The plasma fipronil concentrations slowly reached a peak average about 101 hours and decreasing slowly (half-life) by approximately 154 hours, the highest values are observed in males. The concentration of fipronil and fipronilsulfone in peeling decreases with time, but are detectable at least 60 days after application in dogs.

Parasites are killed mainly by contact and not by systemic exposure.

Cure and prevention of infestations by fleas, ticks and biting lice. The duration of protection against new infestation is two months for fleas and one month for ticks. The drug can be incorporated into a treatment of Flea Allergy Dermatitis.

Worked Fast
May 11, 2015

I tried this for the first time this month. I have tried a couple of other flea treatments but my dogs are still scratching. I applied this and put shirts on the dogs since one of my dogs is always grooming the others and the directions warn against this. Within an hour the dogs had almost completely stopped scratching. So far, so good. And this is less oily on their coats then the other stuff.

Pet Shed saves me money

I just purchased this generic version of Frontline, a 3 month supply. I have been a customer of Pet Shed for 2 years, and they have saved me money off the Name Brand, but now I see there is a generic version and even cheaper!!! I just had to give it a try and that is why I purchased a 3 month supply. I will post again when I have seen how it works, but from the reviews, I believe I will be very satisfied!

The generic works just as well and I like how safe Fipronil is compared to the ingredients in other flea meds. Pet Shed has the cheapest rates I have found online and they always ship it fast. Never had a problem with my order!
