are the tapeworms in humans same as the ones that infest pets?

well, a cat's tapeworm may get into person's body. so, when this happens the tapeworms in the cat are the same as the those in the person. but, you see, from what i've read, there are many types of tapeworms that can infect humans and the most common are the pork tapeworm (Taenia solium) and the beef tapeworm (Taenia saginata).
there are also many species of tapeworms that infect cats and the most common are Dipylidium canium from fleas and Taenia taeniaeformis from rats.

one way to get these worms from your pet is when you clean up after your pet with your bare hands. that's why you should always wear gloves when doing this, uh, dirty work. Wink

always practice good hygiene so you won't get infected with tapeworms and other worms as well.

i've been advised to clean it as frequently as possible. it helps when the litterbox has clay or soil in it.
