Hey guys, have you had any experience deworming a cat? I'll highly appreciate any opinion...I haven't dewormed my cat before and I'm thinking if I should do it to keep my pet healthy...

deworming your pet is a must. my experience is that you really have to be careful when cleaning up after a cat that is being dewormed. some of these parasites can be easily transmitted to humans, i've heard.

you really should deworm your cat. have your pet checked by a vet so you'd get the proper medicine and guidelines to do it.
and yes, humans can get infected. so be careful.

i'd say go and have your cat dewormed. besides your cat's health, wouldn't you feel more at peace knowing that your pet's safe?

Is there a specific wormer for a certain breed of cat? Does a cat's breed determine what type of wormer I should use?

i'm not sure harvey. i think the dosage or the type of dewormer used largely depends on the size of your cat or the severity of the infestation. i don't think breed has anything to do with it.

i agree with Melrose. and the dewormer can also depend on the cat's age.

about deworming: "Kittens should be treated for intestinal worms at six, eight, ten and 12 weeks of age, then monthly until they are three months old, then at least every three months throughout life."
also, some dewormers are for cats and some dewormers are for kittens.

no matter what you do, don't give horse dewormers to your cat! i've actually encountered some people online who gave their cats horse dewormers. needless to say, it didn't go very well.

I just don't see the need for horse wormers when there are a lot of cat wormers available out there. Confused Profender, for example, is a good product. It is my choice of wormer for my cats.

I use Revolution. It is a spot-on cat wormer.

i agree. Regina. there are effective cat wormers and i don't think it's safe to use horse wormers on our cats.
