I found this neat trivia somewhere.
| Quote: |
| Two dogs survived the sinking of Titanic. They escaped on early lifeboats carrying so few people that no one objected. Miss Margaret Hays of New York brought her Pomeranian with her in lifeboat No. 7, while Henry Sleeper Harper of the publishing family boarded boat No. 3 with his Pekinese, Sun Yat Sen. |

| Although I love dogs, I just hope they didn't sacrifice people just so those extra spaces can be used by these dogs. |

Yeah, I'm happy for those dogs but I can't stop but think that that space could have saved more people |

I agree. I'm all for the love of pets but I don't really think that is the issue here. There was still space on some boats because some of the wealthier passengers had "special" treatment -- which is unfair. |

I agree with you all but I don't think the dogs should be blamed here. I'm still happy they survived but I can't really say the same for their human companions |

I wish they included those dogs in the Titanic movie. That would be nice.

| people value dogs so much that it wouldn't be a burden to their conscience if they saved those dogs first |

| In a disaster like the Titanic, would you rather save the dogs first than the people? I love dogs but I believe people come first in the hierarchy of importance. |

| i agree with most people here. especially with the "special treatment" comment. even if i love my dog, i wouldn't sacrifice people for him. i mean, there could be kids and babies drowning that night! these dogs' owners should've thought about that. |
