I have three cats at home but I was fortunate to have 2 at the same time. the last cat, mi-miu, had to be introduced slooooowly to the 2 cats. yes, there would be world war 3 if you just mix them in an instant! so do it slowly. acutally, petshed has this vet advise section that talks about it. AHA! you are not reading that section! Laughing Laughing Laughing

that can be a problem. cats can be very territorial and if you get another cat, all hell might just break loose. Smile anyway, maybe you can try it slowly by bringing another cat and see how your lucy reacts. hope i was able to help.

LOL, yeah all hell would break loose if you just suddenly introduce lucy to a new cat! But y'know, it's not that tough. ya jus have to introduce them slowly. like show lucy the new cat for a few minutes. then do it again the next day and as the days pass, their introduction gets longer. g'luck! i got my kitties together (good for me! lol!) but i know how you feel. yeah you should do it gradually and give em their own little territory so the lucy won't feel like she is being replaced.. good luck! you need it.. lol! Razz

That question has been nagging me for a long time. See, Cassandra is 6yo. It would be too late for me to get another cat since she has been with me since she was a little kitten. I did not risk getting another cat because I live in a small place. It would be difficult for me to keep them separated.

i've been thinking about getting a few cats but after what all of you said i think i'm just going to get me a new dog. i like cats too but i have some reservations, especially since they're not as social as dogs.

If I were you, I'll just keep one cat as she already needs a lot of work from you. Just one at one time is manageable.

there are feline breeds that are sociable. one of them is the Balinese. they are friendly and normally gets on well with other cats, visitors and dogs. so, if you're thinking of getting a social pet, try this one.

That's right, Libby. Balinese cats are a sociable lot. We must keep in mind though, as said in another thread here, that all cats have attitudes. They will need to adjust whenever you introduce a new element in their surroundings. So if you're thinking of buying or adopting a new cat, observe how your old cat behaves during the first few weeks.

They may be uncomfortable with each other at first, but with time they'll learn to like one another. I have three cats. They get along fine. Just be patient.

Same here! I have three cats, Samantha, and they also get along well. Allow them time to get used to each other's habits and all. I'm sure they'll make good buddies!
