hey guys, what do you think is a low-maintenance bird? i'm planning to get a pair of birds as a pet. i would like to hear some chirpings in the morning when i wake up.

I'm not a bird person but I don't think that there's such a thing as a low maintenance bird. Very Happy

All of them are messy you know.

i also don't know much about birds but i think hearing chirping in the morning would be a great way to greet the day.

just because birds are kept in cages doesn't necessarily mean they are low-maintenance. i think they're even harder to have as pets.

I agree with Susie. While I don't own a bird, but I could see them poop a lot in their cages. Everyday. Imagine the amount of cleaning up you'll have to do?

What's with all these cleaning up thing? What's wrong with that. If you have a dog, then you also clean up after your pet. To hear the melodious chirps of the birds early in the morning makes every effort worthwhile.

well, at least you could teach dogs and cats to poop in the right places! you can't do that with birds.

I think what the people here are trying to say is that there is no such thing as a low-maintenance bird pet. That doesn't make birds bad pets, though. However, if you're looking for "easier" pets, you can't go wrong with a dog or cat.
