Hello everyone!!!

I am new to this forum and was brought here because I have a huge problem. I have been using K-9 Advantix monthly on my dogs since August and now my home is infested with ticks.

Let me start from the beginning....I have had my yellow lab mix for 4 years...never had a tick problem. In July we adopted a black lab mix from the humane society only to discover 2 days later that she was covered in adult stage ticks. I spent nearly 3 hours picking them off of her with tweezers. GROSS!!!! I purchased a tick collar from the vet for $20.00 and a few weeks later invested in Advantix for both dogs from Pet Shed. I took the collar off her after applying Advantix. Now that I have dismissed the dogs itching the last few weeks as dry skin, (why should I have been concerned....they are protected with Advantix) I found a few bugs crawling up my walls and when I killed them, blood bursted out of them. ON NO!!!....they are baby ticks!!! (identified from the internet) Now I see them in cracks and crevices, in my bed, under my bed, on the sofa, all over the house! I didn't know these bugs were ticks because I only knew what adult ticks looked like, these baby ticks look like baby spiders and we live in Florida so having spiders throughout the year is normal. We are having our home bombed tomorrow by a pest company that guarantees it for 3 months, but what I want to know is why Advantix didn't work?????????? I religiously applied it on the dogs every first of the month. We bathed the dogs tonight with a flea and tick shampoo, (must have washed out at least 15 ticks on each of them) and I am going to get them both tick collars from the vet tomorrow. But I am so disappointed that I spent so much money on Advantix to have it NOT work.

I don't trust it anymore; therefore I will not buy it again or will I recommend it to anyone. Anybody else experience this? Any tips or comments will be appreciated.

My poor babies....I have yelled at them for scratching, thinking it's either a habit or they have dry skin. Now I feel so guilty because they have ticks and have a reason for scratching and itching. But I trusted Advantix and thought there was no way they had fleas or ticks. I never even checked them. I feel like I have been abusing them. Who knows how long we have had them in our home, I think they never left since we got Sadie from the humane society. Ticks like to hide when they are molting, so I think they have been here for months and we just never noticed.

I love my dogs so much and don't want them to suffer any more than they have so any suggestions would be appreciated!!!!!!
