I've read somewhere that all dogs are descendants of the wolf? Is this true?

what i know is dogs and wolves belong to the same group of animals called Canis so they have many similarities. There were wild dogs in ancient times and they were tamed to become guard, herding and hunting dogs. The domestic dogs we have now were produced from selective breeding.

Here's what I've learned so far about this topic. Modern day dogs did descend from the wolves. The ancestors of our dogs were brave enough to go near villages because that's where they found easy food. Now, over time, people learned to get used to these 'wolves' and eventually learned to domesticate them. That's the gist on how our dogs evolved from wolves.

That's a cool info, Joey. It explains a lot. Maybe some dogs still retained the appearances of wolves like the Siberian Husky. And all dogs still have wolf-like qualities like their being a pack animal and marking their territory.

I was just wondering if the dog's preference to bury things is a trait of their wolf heritage? All dogs love to bury things, right? Be it a shoe, a bone or a toy.

Yes, I believe dogs are descendants of the wolf. That's why they still retain some traits they got from the wild like marking territory, burying things, walking around the spot where they intend to rest, etc.

Really? Is there any scientific proof that dogs are descendants of the wolf? hmm, just wondering...

According to National Geographic, The DNA makeup of wolves and dogs is
almost identical. It is said that the canine species evolved to the domestic
types that exist today so that dogs and humans may coexist.

Personally, the only difference I see between dogs and wolves is the manner
in which they get food; wolves hunt while dogs ask for food. You might
say the pet dogs we have today are "civilized wolves".
